Marbellino finishing.

Bismark, the stucco guy, came with his crew to put the first coats of marbellino on the walls of the cabinas. It’s a beautiful finish, very smooth and just enough deviation of tones. We’re doing a (just) off-white finish and it really plays off the wood nicely!! Muy benito! (FYI: Bismark also did the marbellino finish on Mel Gibson’s house, which is very near here.)

Things continue to move along. The new water tank is finished, now we are just waiting on the “tubos” to connect to the water source. The ferreteria sent the wrong size and now we wait.  As soon as the tubos are installed, we fill the new water tank and demolish the old one, recycling the concrete from the old tank. In the meantime the crew will begin on the foundation for the main house.

I’m heading to the states tomorrow to visit dad for my “visa run” – unless you have residency here, you must exit the country every 90 days for 72 hours. It’s a common practice here with us ex-pats. So, I’m taking the opportunity to shop for things we can’t get here. I fly back to San Jose next week where Greg will meet me and we will FINALLY be able to pick up our jeep and drive it home!

Newly finished tank!

New tank in the forground, old tank in the background (the green cement structure a the mid-left of the frame).

The old tank, currently sitting right where the pool is going to be. It will be good to see this obstruction disappear!

Break time!

Yay yay yay! So exciting! And it just brings a smile to my face & a couple of tears of joy that you are able to bring this vision to fruition. Just sitting here at my desk in Baltimore, it seems amazing that you guys are building a cabina at this very same moment!
